GSMArena reports that Apple has responded to reports about the iPhone Duo inner display cracking. In a statement to 9to5Mac, Apple said early user response has been "incredibly positive" and that it is aware of an issue impacting the inner display on a small number of iPhone Duo units. Apple advised users who experience display issues to contact AppleCare for a replacement, as reported.
According to GSMArena, the issue gained traction on social media and internet forums, with several iPhone Duo buyers posting about damaged internal displays. Those reports described the damage as seemingly occurring when the phone was opened after feeling resistance from the hinge, followed by a popping sound from the hinge and immediate display damage.
GSMArena reports that Apple provided no explanation for the cause. The outlet notes Apple claims the issue affects a small number of units and describes that as plausible considering estimated sales, while advising users to contact AppleCare as early as possible to secure a replacement.
