GSMArena has published a comparison of the Apple iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro following the new model’s release. The outlet reported that iPhone 17 Pro stock is running low after Apple discontinued the model, and it described the generational upgrades as quite modest; it said buyers who find the older model may get a similar experience at a lower price, though brand-new, unopened units were already hard to find in the US.
According to GSMArena, the two phones share almost identical dimensions and the same 6.3-inch LTPO OLED 120Hz display, while the 18 Pro adds a narrower Dynamic Island and new colors. The outlet reported small battery-life gains, slightly faster charging and louder speakers for the 18 Pro, plus a considerably more powerful 2nm A20 Pro chipset versus the A19 Pro; both list 12GB/256GB base memory, but the 18 Pro goes up to 2TB, and GSMArena noted independent testing found QLC storage in its 1TB/2TB versions.
On cameras, GSMArena reported that the 18 Pro’s main camera adds a variable aperture from f/1.48 to f/4.0, compared with a fixed f/1.78 on the 17 Pro, and that the newer model adds manual shutter-speed and white-balance controls, though manual ISO is still missing. The outlet said image-quality differences are generally small, selfies are essentially the same, and video capabilities are largely unchanged apart from Cinematic mode reaching 4K60 and manual controls on the 18 Pro. It also reported a higher launch price in some European markets and described the European price gap as hard to justify, while saying the 18 Pro may be the only option in the US.
