9to5Google reported on Oct. 27, 2026, that Gemini Notebook rolled out a built-in audio recorder on Android and iOS. The outlet said a microphone icon appears between the camera and the “Create New” floating action button.
As reported, launching the recorder from the homepage creates a new notebook, while tapping the microphone from the Sources tab saves recordings to an existing Notebook. The recorder has a pause button and a checkmark that starts upload, with a Gemini Notebook-themed waveform and live count; recordings can continue in the background when switching apps or locking the screen, and there is a 1-hour capture limit.
9to5Google said Google first announced the recorder in September and that it was widely rolling out today on Android and iOS. The report also noted a tweak in which tapping “Create New” immediately starts a new notebook rather than sliding up the “Add a source” panel, and referenced a Live button in the Chat tab for real-time conversation with notebooks. The outlet advised force-stopping the app if the feature is not live on a device.
