9to5Google reports Google Health 5.11 is rolling out this week. The outlet says Improved Automatic Activity Tracking is available now for Fitbit Air, Pixel Watch 3, Pixel Watch 4, and Pixel Watch 5, with Fitbit Edge getting the capabilities at launch on October 27. The feature is reported to expand detectable activities from 10 to up to 100, including strength training, swimming, and racket and team sports.
According to the report, the update uses contextual reasoning, workout routines, historical data, and manual edits to improve detections. Workouts meeting a default 15-minute minimum duration threshold with sustained elevated heart rate are automatically logged, with a summary typically sent to the Google Health app within 30 minutes. Confirming or editing an activity is said to help the feature learn patterns.
For Google Health Premium subscribers, 9to5Google reports Fitbit Air and Edge users can set up Health Guardian blood pressure and insulin resistance trends, with the first report available at the beginning of November, subject to October wear conditions. The report also says blood glucose is now labeled “Glucose” with updated charts, custom time-in-range goals can be set for connected continuous glucose monitors, and Lingo by Abbott syncing is faster in the US only.
Sleep tracking is reported to have more accurate awake detection using steps data for short awakenings and easier nap editing from the nap card. Version 5.11 is reported available on iOS and still rolling out for Android.
